Internship and Employment experiences of Program graduates. The Neuropsychology program has enjoyed a robust history of doctoral education, graduating more than 220 Ph.D. students since its inception. With respect to internship experience, eighty-two percent of our students who applied for internship in the past eight years (n=36) were placed in funded internships and sixty-one percent (n=27) were placed in APA-accredited internship programs.
A survey of graduates from the Clinical Neuropsychology Program track during the years 2000-2007 revealed that all graduates began working in applied or research settings in Psychology upon graduation and all but three (out of 36) are currently working in industry, academic or applied settings. Moreover, three graduates have diplomate status in Clinical Neuropsychology; a number of them have received external funding for research and many serve in regional and national organizations as officers or committee members.
With respect to state licensure, 2/3 of the graduates are licensed psychologists in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut or other states. Note that this number does not include 3 graduates whose license applications are under review and postdoctoral fellows who are not yet eligible to apply for licensure.
Time to Completion and Attrition. The Graduate Center at CUNY has a nine year limit for completion of all degree requirements for those entering with a bachelor’s degree, and an eight year limit for those entering with 30 or more transfer credits.
The average time to completion for students who graduated from the Clinical Neuropsychology Track over the last seven years is 7-8 years. Only two students in the 2000-2007 academic cohort are beyond the seventh year in the Program.
Of the 56 students who enrolled in the Clinical Neuropsychology Program during the past seven years, three have graduated and seven have left the Program without finishing the doctoral degree.
